As a director within the Dispute Consulting service line, established and led the data analytics practice in support of complex litigation, including data management leadership for expert testimony. Developed standard processes and protocols for data acquisition, data management, research, analysis, and long-term disposition of data and information assets. Evaluated and implemented various data analysis tools (including SAS, MatLab, ACL), and various database and database/data warehousing technologies (i.e., SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services, Oracle, Access). Developed data management applications on various platforms, including Microsoft Access and Excel, SharePoint, ACL, and BusinessObjects. Identified, trained, and managed a team of data analysis professionals. Worked closely with internal and external IT organizations to build and maintain infrastructure to support data analytics.

Example projects:

  • Organized and led the data analytics team involved with managing terabytes of data to be analyzed in support of expert testimony for the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme bankruptcy litigation. Provided senior direction on all aspects of data management, from handling chain-of-custody and data acquisition and protection to hardware configuration and software licensing. Responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and administering SQL Server 2008 and Oracle 9i and 10g databases used to stage data captured as part of the litigation. Managed a team of individuals responsible for creating, maintaining, analyzing, and producing supporting reports for expert testimony, utilizing advanced SQL queries. Led a team of specialists responsible for staging and reviewing a legacy IBM AS/400 environment to analyze and report on specific functionality in support of expert testimony.
  • Developed technical training programs for the use of tools such as Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel. Provide web-based training to over 200 individuals.
  • For numerous litigation support engagements, designed, built, and implemented data capture, cleansing, and manipulation solutions using tools such as SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, ACL, MS Excel, and MS Access (automation using Visual Basic for Applications). Developed numerous solutions for converting data stored in PDF files to text and Excel files using JavaScript automation in Adobe Acrobat.

  • Large passenger rail organization – Provided project management for the implementation of an executive dashboard for a large passenger rail organization. Managing the definition and documentation of metrics in addition to managing the efforts of the client’s internal information technology department. Utilizing PMI-based project management protocols and best practices to develop and maintain project artifacts (project plan, project schedule, risk mitigation plan, communication plan, etc.) to ensure the successful delivery of the executive dashboard.
  • State department of transportation– Functioned as the technical project manager for the maintenance and enhancement of the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS). The HMMS is an Oracle Forms-based application that tracks the maintenance activities, and associated labor, equipment, and material costs related to the DOT’s daily operations. Involved in the design, development, maintenance, and deployment of several upgrades to the application, including integration with a new HR system currently being installed at the DOT. Managed the technical team, as well as maintained project status, project financials, and communication documents.
  • Large, federal civilian agency – Led several integration projects to web-enable legacy applications. Involved in all aspects of these projects, from requirements gathering through design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance. Specific areas of expertise include Java, Documentum, HTML and JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Cold Fusion, PowerBuilder, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications, object-oriented techniques, windows batch programming, and email integration.
