As DevOps / Data Engineer at Tatango, I am primarly leading the transition of part of the company data to a NoSQL event driven data model. I am also providing support to a set of data and DevOp functions, including migration to a container based architecture. I also co-manage ETL processes and BI report design. I am leveraging, amongst other AWS features, DynamoDB Keyspaces(Cassandra Nosql), Kinesis (Data stream), Lambda (serverless computing) and Redshift (data
warehousing) and using tools like Terraform and frameworks like Serverless.

I joined the Gignow team based in Palo Alto, CA for a 6 weeks long onboarding and training. I then switched to a fully remote consulting role from my hometown Milan, Italy. As part of the Devops team I provided support to the developers and project stakeholders by managing a sophisticated multi layered infrastructure built on Microsoft Azure. Most of the codebase was written in Ruby, but other tools like Azure Cli and Bash scripts were used on a daily basis. 3rd party tools like Concourse CI, Splunk and Periscope Data were also part of the infrastructure.

Switched to a fully remote consulting role, managing cloud based company assets and providing insights on database related items. I managed backups, restores and data migration of an array of small and medium sized database running on Oracle, Azure SQL and MySQL. I worked on further improving the BI systems, leveraging new features from the 2016 release of SQL Server and the new PowerBI tool. I also played a key role in a system review in order to optimize infrastructure costs. I have also worked on compliance auditing and on implementing the new GDPR law from the European Union.

Joined the IT team based at the company Middle East regional HQ in Dubai Media City. Initially assisted in overhauling company CRM and reporting system, while still supporting Europe operations, later took on a DBA position managing databases in Oracle, MSSQL Server and MySQL. Deployed Data guard high availability
solution leveraging replication technologies on premises that I later migrated to a cloud based infrastructure. Upgraded the reporting system based on Microsoft SSRS to cover sales, financial and marketing analysis. Led the migration of all existing on-premises databases and applications to Microsoft Azure Cloud system.

Initially focused on local IT support, gradually took on more responsibilities on enrolling IT projects across all of Europe. I had also two training sessions in Dubai and one in Australia, assisting the company move to web-based data management. Setup and managed IT operations in countries like Portugal, Spain, Greece, Poland and Turkey, travelling 20% of the time.
